Dear Students,

 

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Southern University Alumni Home Chapter High School Scholarship! This award is strictly merit-based and awarded to high school graduating seniors from East Baton Rouge Parish (including Baker, Central and Zachary). The deadline for this application is Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:59pm.

In order to be considered, you must plan to attend Southern University, meet the Scholarship Criteria, and submit a completed Scholarship application.

​Scholarship Criteria 

  • High School graduating senior currently attending school in East Baton Rouge Parish (including Baker, Central, and Zachary)

  • Minimum Cumulative 2.8 GPA.

  • Minimum ACT Composite score of 18 OR SAT Composite of 960.

       Your application packet must include the following: (incomplete applications will disqualify you from consideration):

  • The completed application

  • An official copy of your high school transcript (minimum seven semesters)

  • An official copy of your ACT or SAT scores

  • One letter of recommendation from your high school guidance counselor OR a current or former teacher attesting to your character, motivation, potential, etc. Either upload their letter with your application or have them email it to 3rdvp@suhomechapter.org. The letter must be on official school letterhead and must be signed.

  • A two-page essay on the topic "How I Will Use my Southern University Education to have an Impact on the Greater Community”

 

If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, prior to receiving your scholarship, you must:

  1. Submit an acknowledgment to the chapter agreeing to participate in a Home Chapter meeting/event for recognition purposes and to allow your picture to be used in a Home Chapter scholarship event.

  2. Provide proof of enrollment at Southern University and A&M College by presenting a paid billing statement from the institution for the entering semester.

 

You will receive a portion of the awarded scholarship from the SUAF-Home Chapter in the Fall 2024 semester and the remainder in the Spring 2025 semester.

Incomplete or late applications will disqualify you from consideration.
